Pillar 3 · The Differentiator

Built to be cited by ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity.

While most Malaysian SME sites are invisible to AI search, yours can be the one LLMs quote. That’s what Answer Engine Optimisation does — and we ship it on every website.

In short

AI Search Optimisation — also called Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) or Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) — is the practice of structuring web content so AI assistants extract and cite it when answering user queries. Atlas implements the complete AEO stack on every website: llms.txt, speakable schema, answer-first content, entity sameAs, author Person schema, and explicit crawler allows — for RM 8,500, launched in 3 weeks.

The Search Funnel Is Forking

A growing share of buyers — especially Gen Z and younger millennials — now starts research in an AI assistant instead of Google. If your site isn’t cited there, you don’t exist for them.

🔄

Buyer behaviour shifted

Research now: ask ChatGPT first, click a Google result second. For buyers who ask AI first, a citation is the only way they ever see you.

🥇

First-mover advantage

AEO is where SEO was in 2005. The sites that got it right early still dominate two decades later. Almost nobody in Malaysia is doing this yet — early adopters become the default citation in their category.

📈

Compounds with SEO

Same schema and content quality signals lift both Google rankings and AI citations. One investment, two channels.

The Complete AEO Stack

Eight implementation deliverables, all included in the Atlas package.

📄 llms.txt + llms-full.txt

The emerging standard for AI-crawler discovery. Like sitemap.xml, but designed for LLMs. Implementation cost is zero; benefit grows as standards mature.

🤖 Explicit AI bot allows in robots.txt

GPTBot, ClaudeBot, anthropic-ai, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, CCBot, Applebot-Extended, Bytespider, cohere-ai, Meta-ExternalAgent — each explicitly allowed.

🔊 Speakable schema

Marks extractable answer blocks for voice + AI assistants. CSS selectors point to the answer-first paragraphs that LLMs grab.

💬 Answer-first content pattern

Every page opens with a 40–60 word self-contained answer. That’s what LLMs extract — not your marketing tagline.

🔗 Entity sameAs array

LinkedIn, GBP, Facebook — critical for entity disambiguation. LLMs need to know which "Atlas" you are.

👤 Author Person schema

Blog posts tied to a real author with sameAs LinkedIn. Attributed content gets cited preferentially over anonymous content.

❓ FAQPage schema, site-wide

AI engines extract FAQs as direct answers. Wrap every FAQ section in FAQPage schema and your answers become the default response.

🔧 HowTo schema where applicable

Step-lists that get surfaced in AI answers. For service or how-to content, this dramatically increases citation probability.

AI-search visibility needs fresh answers.

The Atlas package sets up your AI-search foundation at launch. The Website Care + Growth + Quotation System Plan keeps your answer-first content, FAQs, schema, and AI-readable pages updated as your business grows.

What AEO changes.

Before and after — same business, different visibility in AI answers.

Without AEO

  • robots.txt blocks GPTBot by default
  • No schema — AI can't parse structure
  • No answer-first paragraphs to extract
  • No sameAs — entity ambiguous
  • No author attribution on posts
  • AI answers about your industry never mention you

With AEO

  • robots.txt explicitly allows every major AI crawler
  • Full schema graph parsed by every engine
  • Extractable answers in every page's first 60 words
  • sameAs array across LinkedIn, GBP, Facebook
  • Real author entities with sameAs signals
  • You're a default citation in your category

Best-fit profile.

Who AEO works hardest for, and why it's a tighter fit for some businesses than others.

Service businesses and professional practices

Lawyers, consultants, accountants, clinics — where buyers research before calling.

B2B SaaS and agencies

Where technical buyers now ask AI assistants for vendor shortlists.

Local SMEs in competitive categories

Malaysian businesses where "best X in KL/PJ" queries drive foot traffic or enquiries.

Content-heavy businesses

Studios, publishers, training providers — where your content is the product and being cited matters.

Early-stage companies with strong positioning

A clearly defined niche makes you easy for AI engines to describe — and easy to cite when buyers ask who does exactly what you do.

What an AI Citation Looks Like

When AEO is done right, this is what users see when they ask Perplexity or ChatGPT about your category.

What Malaysian founders keep asking us.

AI-search questions we hear most often.

What is AEO (Answer Engine Optimisation)?

Answer Engine Optimisation, or AEO, is the practice of structuring website content so that AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews extract and cite it when answering user questions. Instead of ranking for search queries, you rank for answers. AEO is sometimes called GEO (Generative Engine Optimisation). Both terms describe the same shift: from search-engine visibility to answer-engine visibility.

How is AEO different from traditional SEO?

Traditional SEO optimises for search-engine crawlers ranking blue-link results. AEO optimises for LLM-powered answer engines extracting citations. SEO rewards pages that match query intent; AEO rewards pages that provide self-contained, extractable answers with strong entity signals. The two share foundations (good content, technical excellence, schema) but diverge on content structure (answer-first paragraphs), crawler controls (llms.txt, explicit bot allows), and entity signals (sameAs arrays, author Person schema).

Do AI engines like ChatGPT actually use websites as sources?

Yes. ChatGPT with web-browsing, Perplexity, Claude with web search, and Google AI Overviews all fetch and cite live web content. ChatGPT via GPTBot, Claude via ClaudeBot, Perplexity via PerplexityBot, Google AI Overviews via Google-Extended. Sites that block these crawlers (often unintentionally, via default robots.txt) get zero AI traffic. Sites that are well-structured become the default cited source for topics they cover.

What is llms.txt and do I need it?

llms.txt is an emerging convention (2024) for giving AI crawlers a structured map of your site — similar to sitemap.xml but designed for LLMs. It's not yet a universal standard, but leading AI crawlers support it, and implementing it costs nothing. Atlas includes llms.txt and llms-full.txt on every website we build. Early adoption gives you an advantage while most Malaysian SME sites lack it entirely.

How do I know if my website is AI-search ready?

Check these: (1) Does robots.txt explicitly Allow GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, and Google-Extended? (2) Does the site have a schema.org @graph with Organization, sameAs links, and FAQ pages? (3) Is content structured answer-first (40–60 word extractable paragraphs near the top)? (4) Is there an llms.txt? If any answer is no, your site is invisible to the AI search layer. We fix all four as part of the Atlas package.

Which AI engines will this work on?

The Atlas AEO setup is engine-agnostic by design. The underlying signals — clean schema, extractable answers, strong entity disambiguation, citation-worthy content — are what every LLM-based answer engine looks for. Currently that includes ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, You.com, and Brave Search AI. As new engines emerge, they will evaluate the same signals.

Do you guarantee AI citations?

No — nobody controls what AI engines cite, and anyone promising guaranteed citations is selling snake oil. What we do is implement every signal that makes citation possible: llms.txt, speakable schema, answer-first content, entity sameAs. The engines decide; we make sure you're quotable.

Traditional Google still matters.

Ranking in both Google and AI answers — that's the full play. AEO and SEO compound; they share the same underlying signals.
